Seven rules for beautiful brows

1. Go Dark
Get your eyebrows  tinted if they are very light - the general rule is that your eyebrows need to be a shade or two darker than the hair on your head. This will make your eyebrows seem fuller and also gives them a better shape.

2. Pencil Problems
Do not draw your eyebrows in with a pencil as they will look too harsh - your brows need to stand out, but a soft look is much better. To make your brows look fuller, use an eye shadow that is a shade lighter than your hair colour.

3. Make your eyes pop
Apply a very lightcoloured eye shadow to the area just under your eyebrows to create the illusion of lift. This will also help to highlight the arches of your brows. It frames your face and makes your eyes really stand out.

4. Keep them neat
Have your eyebrows trimmed regularly so they look nice and neat. That way you won't have stray hairs that take away from your brow shape. Trimming them is tricky to do at home so it's best left to a professional.

5. Brow shaping
Use a clear gel mascara to keep your eyebrows in perfect shape. Simply sweep the wand lightly over your eyebrows, then brush them into shape and remove any excess gel. Your brows will stay neat and tidy all day.

6. Deadly plucking sins
on't pluck or wax your brows so they're too wide apart - it will make your face look off balance. No-one is 100 per cent symmetrical so your eyebrows can help even things out - but if they're set too wide apart it just looks wrong.

7. Get inked
If your eyebrows are very sparse, consider getting them tattooed. Get professional advice first as this is something that is not easily reversed. When done well, however, your brows will look amazing and need very little maintenance. - Body + Soul
