If we all focused more on health, they'd be fewer eating disorders, fewer people fighting obesity and fewer people wishing that they were someone they're not. Here are some of the ways we can all begin to shift our mindset from perfect to healthy:
1. Don’t chase 'perfect', chase perfectly healthy, happy. The best part about chasing healthy is, it’s totally achievable. Chasing some idealised vision of perfect does nothing for your self esteem or your health, and is pretty unrealistic. Focusing on your health also gives you bonus benefits: reduced stress, increased energy, boosted immunity, enhanced mood and a longer life. Plus you're not continually focused on what your body 'can't have' so you can have fun and enjoy yourself - and the occasional treat. Isn't that what life's about?
2. Focus on your good bits. There's got to be heaps of things about your body that you like. Maybe it’s your shoulders, your toned legs, your cleavage, or your back. Focus on what you like about yourself and your body instead of wishing you could be someone different. When you drop the notion of perfect from your mind, you'll discover you like more about yourself than you realised! Focus on being the healthiest you that you can be, and liking yourself more will follow.
3. Appreciate yourself. You need to appreciate where you are right now. Congratulate yourself on what you've achieved for your health and fitness, instead of always setting your goals to something unobtainable. Appreciate what your body has done for you! Create healthy living goals for yourself so you can be kind to yourself and your body to enjoy the satisfaction in knowing you are exactly where — and who you want to be. - bellamumma
